A traditional Spanish siesta was exactly what LoLo Jones needed to get her gold.
Jones led an American 1-2 in the women's 60-meter hurdles Saturday at the world indoor championships, winning in 7.80 seconds. Teammate Candice Davis finished second in 7.93.
"It's my first medal and it's gold," Jones said. "How cool is that."
Although Jones also dominated in qualifying, a customary Spanish nap ahead of the final was enough to re-energize her after only three hours of sleep.
"I felt it in the first round," the 25-year-old Jones said of the fatigue. "I think (the siesta) helped."
